NYCYF events provide opportunities for Youth Funders to network, share lessons learned, explore new challenges facing New York City youth, and examine the City’s philanthropic and public response to these issues. The network also creates venues in which local funders can learn from youth programming, research, and policy experts, both locally and nationally. In addition to in-person meetings, NYCYF uses diverse vehicles including webinars, conference calls, LIST-SERVS, and policy briefs to communicate with its constituents.

Bringing Behavioral Design to NYC Nonprofits

A Co-Sponsored NYC Youth Funders Event

8:45 AM – 9:00 AM Check-in
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Program

So often we learn about exciting evidence-based programs and bemoan how difficult and expensive it is to scale up best practices. By contrast, behavioral science offers research findings and design techniques that can be applied fairly easily, at little or no cost, to make a wide range of programs more effective. Typical behavioral design approaches use levers such as social norms, default settings, planning prompts, timely reminders, and hassle reduction to help people convert more of their intentions into actions.

Join us for a discussion of how local organizations are using these insights to enhance service delivery, client engagement, and civic participation.

  • How behavioral science helps us understand human behavior and why people make the decisions they do
  • How local nonprofits are putting behavioral insights and strategies into action to improve program operations and communications
  • How these approaches can be applied to problems that you and your grantees are tackling
